Black figured kyathos
Black figured kyathos classic period 5th century BC. This vase was used for different purposes. It was use as a spoon to draw wine out of the crater,as a measuring cup for liquids and as a drinking cup for liquids and as a drinking cup as well. It is decorated with the figure of Dionysos (god of wine) and a maenas. Out of the hand of Dionysos springs a vine branch which circles the two figures gracefully. On either side the artist has painted eyes which symbolize protection in ancient Greek art. Handmade by J.Kyromitis (2004) with the ancient technique of reduction.
